Choose Your Creative Player: Writer ✍️

A solid choice if we do say so ourselves!

Get comfy-cosy; your life is about to change forever…

Here’s a glimpse into your future self:

A Day in the Life of a Bestselling Author 📚

The sun filters through the floor-to-ceiling windows of your dream home—a sprawling sanctuary of creativity nestled in a picturesque setting you once envisioned during late-night brainstorming sessions. It’s a home that whispers success and inspiration with every glisten of light and each corner dedicated to books, writing, and creative energy.

You take your morning coffee to the balcony overlooking the rolling hills beyond a lake that reminds you of where poets used to go. It echoes the story waiting to be told for a long time—the story of you.

Today is the day you used to daydream about when success seemed like a far-off horizon. You settle into your writing chair in your writer’s office, a space meticulously curated to fuel the imagination. A space that once only existed on your Pinterest vision boards. It’s comfortable, familiar, and perfectly positioned by a window that lets natural light pour over your desk. A view that invites your mind to wander, explore, and imagine.

Your latest project—a novel with plot twists so intricate you marvel at your mind, “Did I write that?”—is open on the screen. You pause for a moment, feeling the joy of progress. The gratitude for the life you worked hard to transform into a reality. You’ve come a long way from watching others lost in story worlds, sipping flat whites, and typing furiously on their MacBooks at your local coffee shop.

You’re fuelling your creative flow today, thanks in no small part to last week’s co-creation session with Studio Sonder’s community of like-minded writers and creatives. Studio Sonder has been the heartbeat, CreativeFuel, and accountability hub for helping you make it this far.

Some Studio Sonder writers, who have fast become best friends, bring fresh perspectives that sharpen your prose; others bring inspiration that sparks entirely new ideas. Constructive feedback from the group keeps your work grounded and vibrant, ensuring your characters stay authentic, your twists remain gripping, and your confidence grows with every draft.

A notification pings—it’s your agent. You smile because these moments no longer come with the stress of "what if."

They bring news of opportunity: a potential movie deal for one of your novels, an invitation to speak at a writing retreat in Italy or another bestseller accolade.

The morning flies by. Before you know it, you’ve written several pages of immersive, heartfelt storytelling. You’re proud of the words and how far you’ve come as a writer. You don’t shy away from calling yourself that anymore.

You are a real writer.

You always were.

You just needed to find your creative tribe.

At midday, you head to a café in the city centre. It’s one of your favourite writing haunts, a place that feeds your soul with its atmosphere and eclectic charm. You overhear snippets of conversations, each a potential seed for a future story. Every experience is a story worth telling, right?

Right! It’s time to join a virtual session with aspiring writers you mentor as part of Studio Sonder. They ask questions, share drafts, and show gratitude when you offer guidance. You know what it’s like to be in their shoes, and seeing them grow fills you with pride. It only seems two minutes ago that this was you, first taking a chance on yourself and becoming a founding member of Studio Sonder. The excitement of your writing mentees reminds you why you started this journey—not just to tell stories but to inspire others to tell theirs.

The evening is for yourself. You lounge in the library of your home, surrounded by the books that once inspired you and now include several of your own titles. You jot down ideas for future projects—a series set in Japan inspired by your last trip. Oh! And before you forget, expand on those nuggets of wisdom for that new nonfiction book about the art of writing.

You take a moment to reflect. This is actually your life. Writing is no longer just a passion; it’s the foundation of your world. You’ve travelled, taught, and inspired. You’ve changed lives, including your own.

Before bed, you whisper the words you’ve worked hard to make true: “I did it.”

And tomorrow, you’ll do it all over again.

Take Messy Action Now:

Your Writer Life Awaits 👇

🪴 Wake-Up & Mindset Ritual 🪴

  • Start your day with gratitude journaling. Write three things you’re grateful for and set an intention for the day. Want to go a step further?

  • Try The Morning Pages: Write three pages per morning of free-flowing writing—whatever comes to mind. Don’t stop until the pages are finished. Rinse and repeat daily!

  • Visualise your future success: imagine your dream home, published books, and the lives you impact.

Mind & Body Refresh

  • Go for a brisk walk or do a short yoga/meditation session to clear your mind and energise your body. Listen to a playlist of hand-selected tunes that will inspire your mind to wander around your creative writing projects.

Morning Inspiration

  • Read a chapter from a book or listen to a podcast by an author or creative who inspires you. This keeps your motivation high and your mind focused on writing excellence.

  • Bonus: One of the best ways to improve your writing (aside from writing) is to read as much as possible. The more you read, and the diversification of what you read can naturally influence your tone, voice, and flow!

Coffee & Idea Catching

  • Sit in your favourite spot, drink your coffee or tea, and let your mind wander. Write down any story ideas, snippets of dialogue, or plot twists that come to you.

  • Go to that coffee shop or place you dream of writing! You don’t have to wait until you’re ready - go now, experience the life you want, and make it a reality.

🧠 Creative Focus Time: Deep Work 🧠

Writing Session

  • Time block to dig into your primary writing project (novel, screenplay, or teaching materials). Use the Pomodoro method (25 minutes of focused writing, 5-minute breaks) to maintain energy and momentum.

  • Goal: Write at least 1000 quality words or complete a key scene/chapter. Don’t worry about self-editing - you can leave gaps [add details later] like this if our fateful foe writer’s block tries to intervene.

🫰 Recharge & Connect 🫰

Break & Reset

  • Step away from the laptop, typewriter, or notebook. Do something restful (probably best to avoid doom scrolling). Use this time to relax and let your mind process the morning’s work. A protein-rich lunch is brilliant for the brain!

Creative Community Check-In

  • Engage with your fellow Studio Sonder members. Share updates, ask for feedback, or provide input to others. Building and maintaining these connections will keep your creativity flowing. Offering feedback on other member’s work will also improve your analytical skills for your projects!

🦚 Diversify Your Work 🦚

Secondary Projects & Professional Development

  • Work on side projects like teaching materials, short stories, social media posts, or nonfiction ideas.

  • Spend 30 minutes learning something new about publishing, marketing, or the craft of writing to stay ahead in your field.

🌴 Exploration & Inspiration 🌴

Research & Idea Generation

  • Read widely (fiction, nonfiction, poetry) to stay inspired.

  • Brainstorm ideas for future projects or explore new settings for your work.

Dinner & Relaxation

  • Share a meal with loved ones or enjoy a quiet dinner with your favourite show. A great way to get inspiration for characters and plot is to people watch - challenge yourself to a solo artist’s date at your favourite restaurant.

Mentorship & Giving Back

  • Host a virtual writing session in Studio Sonder with aspiring writers or write a blog post/podcast to inspire others.

🪐 Winding Down & Reflection 🪐

Creative Playtime

  • Do something creative unrelated to writing - maybe edit together a vlog or start sketching a storyboard. You may just unlock a different perspective on your projects!

  • Start that TV show or watch that film you’ve meant to see - you never know what nuggets of creativity it might unlock.

Reflection & Gratitude

  • Reflect on the day’s accomplishments and jot down what went well. Write a short affirmation: “I am becoming the writer I’ve always dreamed of.”

Lights Out

  • Rest well, knowing you’re one day closer to your dream life.

🗓️ Weekly Habits 🗓️

  • Travel/Exploration: Dedicate one day each week to exploring new places for inspiration.

  • Networking: Attend workshops, masterclasses, or creative jam sessions as part of Studio Sonder.

  • Marketing: Spend one afternoon a week working on your author platform (social media, email newsletters, or querying agents).

These tasks blend creative focus with personal growth, community building, and self-care, setting you up for long-term success!

You don’t have to practice these daily. Start with the easiest to action first, then build on your efforts. Everyone’s 24 hours are different, but there’s always time to make space for your creativity.

Good luck; we can’t wait to read your debut novel! ❤️‍🔥
